What's it like at a Race Day?
Feeling nervous about running your first 5K, 10K, or half marathon at an event? You’re not alone!
This video walks you through exactly what to expect on race day, from when you arrive to when you get to the finish line.
I filmed this on a real race day (where there was a 10K and a Half Marathon), and it covers everything I wish someone had told me before my first event (I like to know exactly what to expect at new things 😆).
Watch the full race day video here:
What’s in the 10k race video:
-
Parking and bib collection
-
Bag drop and toilets
-
Pacers and how they work
Water stations
-
Race-day nerves and mindset tips

Perimenopause, hormones, and listening to your body
Going for running PBs on a race day

How the event was structured (great if you’re curious what to expect)
A quick word on nerves...
I still get nervous before every single race, no matter how many I've done. The amount of nervous toilet trips I have to do is ridiculous, but I've learned to see it as a good thing, too, because that little adrenaline kick often helps you run the course.
Over time, I’ve realised that many people at the start line feel the same. You're definitely not alone if you're feeling sick with nerves, especially before your first event. It’s part of the whole running day experience for many, and each one gets a little easier. I take lots of deep breaths on the way and try and focus on enjoying the event.
Thanks for stopping by! Let me know on YouTube what distance you're training for.
